Serving The Lord

Kolt has been doing absolutely amazing. They've already had a couple more baptisms and are teaching many people! He's catching on the language really well now! They had the opportunity to visit Palanke a neighboring city on their P day to explore. Here are some really neat pics he sent us from his experiences. The first couple are of his apartment and a baptism he's recently had. Then on to Palanke as well as the Villahermosa Temple! Palanke seems to be JUST gorgeous right in the rain forest!

We LOVE getting Kolts emails weekly. He is so engulfed in the work his spirit is just amazing. One thing Kolt is struggling with is his companion. They get along pretty well, but while being raised Kolt was trained to work and work hard. Not everyone was raised in such a manner, but we're praying Kolt rubs off on his companion a little :).  We were able to talk to Kolt on Christmas day! It was SO great. Kolt is being fed extremely well :) in fact the gal who was letting the missionaries call on her phone owns a restaurant and feeds them quite often! Kolt was a little discouraged because they haven't had any baptisms this week. He said its extremely difficult to even remotely teach the catholic people at this time because of all the Christmas Parties and the season. Kolt's leaders are really pushing for them to have at least one baptism a week. So they are sure trying hard. Kolt says the members really take good care of the missionaries. He even is able to use a washer and one of their homes to wash is cloths on Mondays. The weather has been extremely nice in Reforma, but never cools off so he has a fan by his bed that cools his sweat which in turn cools his body off :). Kolt said another things that he's learning to live with his being with someone every second of the day. He explained it was a little tough to continually get along with each other, but are doing much better. He told me I wake up and he's right there I walk into the room and he's right there then I go to the bathroom and it's a like AHHH YES I'm ALONE! :) For about a second. Kolt said on P days they like to play sports last P day they played basketball and Kolt just kicked the crap out of everyone. He was feeling pretty pumped until they decided to play soccer instead. HA he got his butt kicked, but really had an amazing time. For the missionaries Christmas present they were given the opportunity to go to the Villahermosa Temple for the first time. Kolt really really enjoyed this. He did say it was an incredible gift. Our hearts broke a little for Kolt when he told us he wasn't able to eat a Christmas Even Dinner. They were invited to a families home, but in Mexico the party goes all night so the dinner wasn't finished cooking by the time curfew came around :(. Kolt was also extremely excited to tell us they are going to build a chapel for the saints! It was so good to be able to visit with Kolt not near long enough, but we'll take what we can get!
We are so proud of Kolt and all the work he is doing! These last three months have really flown by he is definitely missed!!!!

Villahermosa!

We received our first email from Kolt since he arrived in Villahermosa technically Reforma 45 mins outside of Villahermosa! His work has already begun!! Kolt was able to baptize and confirm his first member of the church! How amazing is that?! He was so stoked about it! He's having a little bit of a struggle with the language. He understands a lot, but the people talk so fast and with such a strong accent he struggles to keep up. He says it sounds like Japanese or something :). Kolt said he understands now how important it is now to pray for the gift of tongues as well as the gift of interpretation of tongues. In a way it's a huge blessing for Kolt because he was able to rely on the spirit. While he was confirming one of the church's newest members! Kolt told us that he gave the confirmation prayer just as the manual said, but when it came time for the confirmation blessing it was all the spirit. He said it was one of the most amazing things he's ever done. Kolt loves being down there already although he says it's so hot it could melt your eye balls lol! He was a little jealous about our mounds of snow :). Kolt is really realizing how blessed we are for where we live. He talks about how extremely important it is to live in an LDS community and how he really understands how truly blessed he is for growing up where he did. His 1st apartment has no running water, is dirty, and the bed situation is pretty rough, but next Monday they are going to a slightly larger town called Palake where he's going to invest in a hammock. The branch where Kolt is attending has 50 strong members. He says it is the most humble place he's ever been. Their homes usually only have 1-2 rooms, but that isn't important to these people. Only the essentials such as family, food, shelter, and water. One thing he really thought was so special about the people of Reforma was they take extreme care of their handicapped people. The whole community plays there part in feeding, clothing, and sheltering them! How neat is that?! This is so close to Kolt's heart because he helped with the special needs seminary class in high school. He loved it! Kolt is being fed really well thank heaven! He thinks they're fattening him up to eat him or something lol. He really like his new companion who is actually from Mexico! His name is Elder Luna. Kolt was quite surprised with how tall he was 6 feet and 1 inch. He thinks they'll get along really really well. It was so amazing to hear from Kolt. He's truly Loves what he's doing and serving the lord!

Villahermosa here comes Elder Piquet!

Kolt got the news last Saturday that he'd be leaving Monday for Villahermosa, Mexico! The best most amazing part is he was able to call Dad, Mom, and the boys + Landon and I too!!!!!! It was So neat to be able to talk to him. I didn't think he would be able to call us. He sounds so good & SO grown up! I was really shocked with how long we were able to talk to him as well. Seriously forever! Silly Kolt saw snow for the last time Monday for the next 2 years that was a big deal for him and the other boys :). Kolt had quite the airport experience :). To start off he BARELY made the specified weight for the suit cases. He had even put some of his things in a companions suit case lol. The bench mark was 50 lbs. He said that he was just dieing when he put his suit case on the scale it went to 51lbs then back down to 50lbs Thankfully! The funny part was he still had like one other suit case and 2 carry on's lol. He wasn't going to leave anything behind lol. Something SUPER neat Kolt told us about was there was a boy there with him that Kolt and I went to high school with. Jared Richardson :) He wasn't able to get his Visa so they had sent him to St. George for five months, but was  finally able to go to Mexico with KOLT!! How cool is that. We're glad he knew someone going with him. We were giving him a hard time about the food. If you know Kolt you know that he does NOT skip a meal ever!! He likes the homemade meat and potatoes :) Especially mashed potatoes. haha we didn't think he'd get that down in Mexico :). He was telling us about there "Last Supper" at the MTC. Poor kid was expecting something really good and they didn't get it darn it!!! :( He said it was horrible. The first terrible meal they've had at the MTC. Lol we told him that they were just preparing for the drastic change to mexican food. Kolt brought up his little niece several times he SO excited about her and that she'll be here soon be here. He always wants specific updates on her lol. We sent him a 3D ultra sound picture of Brylee that he barely had received before he left thank goodness! He was SO excited about it. We can not wait for him to meet her! There were 26 missionaries with Kolt flying to Mexico City as well as many many others leaving for Mexico very soon. Kolt said, "The Lord wants us in Mexico there is a great work to do I just know it." WOW this kid is powerful and he doesn't even know it! The boys flight was late and they missed their connecting flight in Mexico City to Villahermosa. Kind of really freaked all of us out, but the LDS mission home came and picked up the boys set up there new flight, gave them food, and a bed. We were all so worried about him, but know he is being watched over. Dad got the call Tuesday that he had made it to Villahermosa!! We are all so excited for him. We're sure he's doing absolutely amazing and can't wait to hear from him!

A start!

Elder Kolt Piquet was called to the Villahermosa, Mexico mission. He left for his mission Sept 1, 2010 to the Provo, Ut MTC. Where he currently resides. He has been doing amazing. Kolt has worked very hard during high school and before leaving for his mission on the Spanish language, and is currently doing outstanding. In his letters he writes about learning to teach in Spanish and what an amazing experience that has been. He has even given talks in Spanish as well. Kolt says it's a little nerve wracking, but he has caught on very very fast.

He is LOVING the MTC and the amazing opportunity of how often he is able to attend the temple while there. They are feeding him extremely well he writes and absolutely LOVES the ulimited Fanta Orange  drink machine :). Kolt is also on a very strict schedule which he actually seems to be enjoying as well.

Kolt was given some amazing news this last week. He is able to receive his Visa!!! Which is such a blessing considering many other missionaries haven't been able to receive theirs. To top that off he was even able to call and share this great news with Mom, Dad, and the boys. They were all extremely happy to hear from him. Mom and Dad said it was kind of a shock for both of them to hear from him! Kolt has always had such a strong testimony and loves serving the Lord. We love him so much and are so very proud of him!
